Chromosome analysis is indicated in the individual suffering from particular kind of leukemia’s (e.g chronic myeloid leukemia) and other hematologic disorders. A chromosome analysis on bone marrow or leukemic blood may be helpful in the diagnosis of specific form of leukemia and/ or may aid in providing prognostic information. In patient who have had a bone marrow transplant, chromosome analysis may be useful in monitoring engraftment.
Analysis G-banded karyotyping for the detection of numeric chromosome abnormalities as well as balanced and unbalanced chromosome rearrangements.
